Our departure is fast approaching. Grade 12 has finished for Ally and she is looking forward to attending UWO in the fall. Connor has just put his skates away for the summer and is looking forward to the 31 day break from hockey, however, if we were not away, we don't think he could stay away that long.
The girls, have been informed that we are allowed 3 bags of checked luggage and not the standard 2!! However, a 15kg limit is strictly enforced for our climb so some strategic planning is required. We have been closely following the family group that is summiting Kili tonight on the Adventure Consultants dispatch site. The Machame Route seems to be the best for novice climbers like us. The weather up to now has been great and the group is looking strong. We can only hope that the same goes for us. We are anxious to see our Adventure Consultant guide...Dean Staples. He spent time with Mark mountain climbing in New Zealand and we specifically asked him to guide our group. Dean has spent his lifetime in the Himalaya's and has guided and summitted Everest 7 times!!! So we are in great hands. Packing has started and we will tackle it slowly over the next few days. We are however, planning to spend a couple of days at the cottage before loading up and heading to Africa.

Hope things are going well, I'll keep checking the blog
